Vehicles in Contemporary Art

Vehicles in Contemporary Art

Artworks throughout history have visually documented how important vehicles are to people. They have given us a glimpse into the changing design of vehicles over time, and have shown us the practical and social value of vehicles in different societies value of vehicles in different societies.

Through art, we see how vehicles have been made and used; for transportation, for war, for industry and also for their beauty and value as status symbols.

Artists profiled include Jasper Knight, Aroha Novak, Richard Goodwin, Ted Dutch and Margaret Dodd.

Reviews & Testimonials

“Vehicles in Contemporary Art is a visually attractive resource that takes an innovative look at the art practice of five contemporary artists…

It is my fervent hope that this is the beginning of a series of art texts that use non-conventional subject matter as springboards into art learning and making. It makes a welcome addition to the field!”
